A Letter from the Head of School

Westwood Community,

It is my pleasure to welcome students, parents, alumni, and friends of The Westwood School. I encourage you to explore this site and visit us in person. You will learn that we believe in developing the whole student through highly regarded methods of learning and we encourage responsible citizenship so that each individual can make a positive and personal contribution in their local and global communities. At The Westwood School, we teach graduates to go out into the world to not just do great things, but to do the right things.

For over 30 years, we have been in the forefront of nurturing and cultivating students in an environment that teaches respect and encourages each of them in their individual gifts and talents via Montessori learning. Over the past ten years, we have added the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, an extension of the foundation of Montessori learning.

Our staff and faculty are committed to every single student. We share a common philosophy—a commitment to a high quality, challenging and international education that will prepare students for their future endeavors. That is the Westwood Way.

To our parents and alumni, I offer a sincere thank you for your continued involvement and support. Together we will lead a new generation of students towards a bright and fulfilling future.

To those new to our school, I invite you to discover the many incredible opportunities that Westwood offers.

Character, Community, Excellence – come and experience The Westwood Way.

Sincerely,

Heather Lourcey
Head of School

“Children are flourishing here! This school becomes your family. Public schools teach the test; this school teaches to educate and transform! The Westwood School prepares the students to not only learn but to think as well. The staff cares. The teachers are well prepared to teach and to work with the students in preparing them for life. These children are ahead of kids in public school, not by a grade, but by several grades. They learn how to dream and how to set goals and the hard work it takes to accomplish them!”
